Sophie Calle at Paula Cooper Gallery! Apr 9 - May 22. Who wants to check it out?
I am excited about this exhibition. In 1980, Calle created a body of work I absolutely adore called Detective, which involved her anonymously hiring a private eye to follow her around Paris for one day. She did not know what day the detective would be following her, so the resulting photographs were a total surprise. This sort of obsession with the evidence of existence seems to be essential to all her work. Her current exhibition is based on processing a break-up through writing, photography, and installation.
